Cheers! We Went to London

Cheers! We Went to London

Hey folks! So I mentioned that our office progress was slowed a bit...because we took a trip to London!!

We did not have this planned at all. But about a month and a half before we left, The Engineer found his job taking him to Kazakhstan and we decided to piggy back a...holiday as they say in London...off of this. We searched to find a location we could both get to cost effectively.

London won!

Amsterdam is Awesome

Amsterdam is Awesome

Good Morning Ya'll! I hope you are lovin' 2015 as much as I am :) We already have one project under our belt at the house in this new year and are underway with two more. I'm working on putting those posts together and should have those for you soon! In the meantime, here's a recap on our brief stopover in Amsterdam from our trip. If you liked the Prague post, you will love Amsterdam too!

Praha! Or as we know it, Prague

Praha! Or as we know it, Prague

What was my favorite place we visited on our big trip you ask? Why, Prague, of course! It is hard to explain why The Engineer and I both loved Prague, but it just had a great vibe. The food was amazing, the beer and wine were super cheap ;-) and it was so pretty. I put both days into one post, but don't worry...there are more pictures than words :)

...Speak Romanian?

...Speak Romanian?

On day two in Rome (you can catch day one here), we headed over the Vatican. St. Peter's Square and St. Peter's Basilica were mostly as I remembered them. We were there on a Thursday so they were busy putting away all the chairs from mass the morning before (seems like a monumental weekly task so me...not only are there a bazillion chairs to set up and take down weekly, they do such a good job that they use a string to make sure the rows are straight).

When in Rome...

When in Rome...

Oh Rome. We were so glad that we took a train from Milan to Rome; I have been to Rome before but The Engineer had not and if you go to Italy, you have to go to Rome! There is so much history there. One of the things I remember quite vividly about Rome is that you can be walking along in the city and right in the middle of everything there is an excavation of ancient ruins.

Ciao Milan

Ciao Milan

After a fun weekend in New York we flew to Milan, Italy.

We only spent the afternoon in Milan. We decided instead to take a train to Rome since The Engineer had never been there. You have to go to Rome if you are in Italy. So we had to pack it in during our afternoon in Milan. We trained it from the Milan airport into the city and right outside the train station you practically fall into Sforzesco Castle.

New York, New York

New York, New York

The first stop on our around the world trip was New York City. Our flight to Milan left on a Monday morning so we decided to fly up early to enjoy the weekend in the city. I have never been to New York city (I drove though it to catch a cruise which does not count). How un-American of me right? No worries though, that problem has been resolved.

The city is so so big! We had a great view from our hotel room on the 32nd floor.

California Dreams

California Dreams

So remember when I was in San Diego? Yea me too. Good times. I know I'm not there anymore but I still want to share the awesomeness of it. The Engineer came to visit me on my time off one week, but he couldn't be there for the entire week, so I had a few days to myself. I chose some places to explore and planned to take the train/metro deal south one stop with the intent of visiting Torrey Pines State Reserve. They are supposed to have good hiking and the park is right on the ocean. Since I didn't have a car I had to plan around walking to everywhere. In my research I noticed that the University of California San Diego was pretty much on the path I needed to take to the park (there was no direct walking route, and what google maps struggles to show you is elevation...there was a very large hill between me and the park that had no roads on it).
