Dexter Much?

Dexter Much?

If I can tell you one thing, its that paint is magical.

Really though...paint can do so much for a room. If you don't believe me, go look at the office before we painted it.

I really enjoyed painting the bathroom because it is so small. Compared to every other room I have painted, it took no time even with painting the ceiling. Before I painted the bathroom, it looked like this:

Custom Vanity Build

Custom Vanity Build

Hey! There's still a ton of stuff left to do in the bathroom. I hope you aren't as tired as we are!

After getting the shower rebuilt and floor tiled, we set our sights on the custom vanity we wanted to build for the concrete vessel sink I just had to have.

The Engineer enlisted our friend Tanner's help for the day to get the bones of this vanity together. Tanner has helped us on a few projects and we also stole the design of our built-in bench from him.

A Dark and Stormy Night...for Tile?

A Dark and Stormy Night...for Tile?

Before I pick up where I left off in the bathroom, let me let you in on a little behind the scenes action. One evening after work (I think it was a Tuesday. Not that that matters.), I was admiring the tile progress in the shower as Jon and The Engineer were hard at work. It was storming, which was making it difficult for the guys to safely get outside to use the tile saw. As I was walking away from the bathroom (no exaggeration here), the biggest, loudest, closest crack of lightning I have ever seen, heard, or experienced, hit. There was screaming and barking (barking from the dogs, not the humans). It was dark, and now we had lost power. To sum it up, the house (or something really close by? We still never pinpointed the exact location of impact) got hit by lightning.

That Shower Better Drain

That Shower Better Drain

Hiya friends! Ready to build a shower? Well if you aren't, that's ok because we've already done that and you can just come along for the ride! We've continued this bathroom renovation with some behind the scenes work. If you don't remember, we conned our friend Jon, who owns his own general contracting business (Defaria Home Contracting), into helping us redo this bathroom. When Jon got to our house there wasn't much of a bathroom to speak of. We had done all the demo work before his arrival so he and The Engineer could get to it!

He Destroyed My Bathroom!

He Destroyed My Bathroom!

Overhauling the second bathroom was definitely an item that was on the To Do List. It wasn't necessarily at the top though. So why now? Well, we are super lucky that one of our good friends, Jon, is kinda an expert on this stuff. The Engineer and I met Jon and his wife, Melanie, in college and the four of us have have remained super close since!

We Won't Miss This

We Won't Miss This

Hey y'all! In the last few posts I've been mentioning that big things were happening around here, but I neglected to let you in on the details. Allow me to rectify that. We're totally redoing our second bathroom! Like...totally redoing. That's right...we took it all the way down to the studs and are building it back up.

Hold on though, I'm already getting ahead of myself. Let's tour the old bathroom and discuss the reasons we demolished this bathroom that really isn't that bad. Or is it?

DIY Wedding Card Holder

DIY Wedding Card Holder

Were you touched by all the cards you received at your wedding? I certainly was <3 Though I am a believer in throwing greeting cards away after they have been on display and appreciated for a while, I could not bring myself to do this with all the cards my husband and I received for our wedding. These were heartfelt congratulations and words of wisdom from our closest friends and family about one of the most pivotal moments in our life together. I knew I wanted to not only keep these cards, but display them as well. I thought this would be so simple...punch a hole in each card, string them all on a ring, and hang it on a *cute* banana stand. Well, step one and two were, in fact, super easy.
